Früh hatte Helmschrot die Idee, sich unterschiedlichste Fähigkeiten anzueignen, um möglichst bunt seine Geschichten auf der Bühne zu zeichnen. Geschliffenes Wort soll mit sinnlichen Eindrücken untermalt werden, um nachhaltig zu wirken.
Er liebt die Kleinkunst, weil sie mit minimalsten Mitteln großen Eindruck beim Zuschauer hinterlassen kann.
